New Feriton Park Spur Opens in Kirkland

Eastrail Partners was excited to be a part of the grand opening of the Feriton Spur Park last Wednesday evening in Kirkland. The newly expanded park is part of the Cross Kirkland Corridor of the Eastrail and provides many new public amenities, as a great example of trail-oriented development. Notable additions include a spray park, grassy amphitheater, full pickleball court, and community garden. The park also features Chainline Station, which serves espresso, ice cream, and beer from Chainline Brewing in a restored train caboose. Cyclists and other trail users will also appreciate the two all-gender bathrooms and upgraded water bottle filling station.

The celebration Wednesday featured remarks from Eastrail advocates at King County and the City of Kirkland, as well as other project partners from SRM Development and Google, who developed the park as part of an expansion of the Google campus in Kirkland. Hundreds of people joined the celebration, cooling off in the spray park and exploring the new areas. We loved answering questions about Eastrail projects and how the Cross Kirkland Corridor will connect to Bellevue, Woodinville and Renton as more trail sections are funded and constructed. As work continues on the 42-mile Eastrail, we are continuing to look for ways to bring government, business, and community partners together to create more trail-oriented development along the corridor, furthering our vision of an Eastrail for all, every day.
